We are looking for a creative, collaborative, and results-driven Data and Analytics Sr. BI Engineer to help on the Data Engineering Operations team. The Data Engineering Operations team has a mission to provide responsive, innovative, and creative extension, support, development, and maintenance on our data platforms, tools, and products. Responsibilities : The primary role of this individual will be to build, enhance and maintain business intelligence platform to support business intelligence and advanced analytics requirements for the Disney-ABC Television Group. The engineer will be expected to work on data cleanup, requirement gathering, conceptual data modeling, prototyping, report creation, data mining and analytics from a newly build BI platform. Analytics built on this platform will enable business to take data driven business decisions. The ideal candidate will have data and analytics expertise, strong business acumen, and experience working with information technology teams.

Basic Qualifications :

  • 7+ years of experience in designing and operating very large BI platforms

  • Strong Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence skills, including: Reporting, Data cleanup, ETL and handling scalability issues for enterprise level data warehouse

  • Strong data modelling/design experience

  • Expertise in using OLAP technologies and BI Analytics

  • Experience in at least one reporting tool like Qlikview, Tableau, OBIEE, MicroStrategy etc.

  • Experience with implementing data quality rules across business intelligence platform

  • Capable of investigating, familiarizing and mastering new data sets quickly

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.

  • Effective at partnering with business and technology teams

  • Ability to display complex quantitative data in a simple, intuitive format and to present findings in a clear and concise manner

  • Team player with solid communication skills

  • Expert in SQL writing

  • Working knowledge of HDFS, and Hadoop/Hive and familiarity with big Data technologies (HBASE, Spark)

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience in building BI platforms from scratch

  • Experience in evaluating various technological solutions to solve business requirements

  • Experience with machine learning algorithms to solve data problems

  • Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Azure

  • Familiarity with media industry

Required Education :

B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a field related to technology.
